Job Description
Job Title: Functional Skills Tutor – Maths & English
Location: Bishop Auckland & Stanley, County Durham
Hours: 22.5 hours per week
Basis: Temporary (ongoing) with potential for permanent

Are you passionate about empowering young learners with the skills they need to thrive? We are seeking a dedicated Functional Skills Tutor to work within a partner college in Bishop Auckland, with travel required between Stanley and Bishop Auckland. This role involves delivering engaging Maths and English tuition, from Entry Level up to GCSE, to learners aged 16-19.
The provision is tailored to individual education and employment goals and caters to a range of learning needs, including supporting learners with learning difficulties and disabilities. By joining this team, you will play an essential role in fostering a positive and supportive learning environment, helping young people build confidence and progress toward their ambitions.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivering high-quality Functional Skills tuition in Maths and English.
  • Tailoring sessions to support learners with varying educational needs.
  • Working closely with students to achieve their academic and employment goals.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in teaching or tutoring Maths and English at Functional Skills level.
  • A commitment to supporting young people, particularly those with learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • Flexibility to travel between Stanley and Bishop Auckland as required.
