Job Description
Job Title: SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: South Tyneside
Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary
Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are looking for a dedicated SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and welcoming special needs school in the South Tyneside area.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting students with a range of SEN/SEMH needs, ensuring their individual learning plans are followed
  • Assisting the class teacher in creating an inclusive and positive learning environment
  • Helping students develop essential social and emotional skills
  • Providing 1:1 or small group support as required
  • Encouraging student engagement and participation in lessons
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working within a SEN/SEMH setting is essential
  • A positive and patient approach to supporting children with complex needs
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to adapt to the needs of the school
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
