Job Title: Teaching Assistant SEN Support
Location: SR8 Further Education Provision
Working Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday
Contract Type: Temp ongoing with potential perm opportunity 

Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate College Teaching Assistant to join our team, focusing on supporting learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a further education setting. Based in SR8 , you will work closely with students who require additional support to access the curriculum, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one and group support to SEN learners, helping them engage with lessons and achieve their full potential.
  • Assist teaching staff with lesson preparation, adapting resources to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Encourage and support students’ independence, personal development, and academic progress.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
  • Monitor and record student progress, reporting any concerns to the teaching staff and SEN coordinator.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, including SEN specialists, to implement and follow Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Provide emotional and behavioral support to students when required.
  • Support with personal care needs, where necessary.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with SEN learners, ideally within a further education or secondary school setting, lived experience or understanding of SEN conditions will be considered.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Flexibility, patience, and a positive approach to challenges.
  • A relevant qualification in SEN support or education is desirable but not essential.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
Working Hours:
  • Monday to Friday, 5 days per week term time only.
