Teaching Assistant - (Special Educational Needs)

Job Overview:
 
The Education Network is currently seeking dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistants to work within the SEN schools across Kirklees, with a specific focus on managing challenging behaviour and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. As a Teaching Assistant in this role, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with diverse learning requirements.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with SEMH needs.
- Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes social and emotional well-being.
- Provide one-on-one support to students who may require additional assistance with their learning or emotional regulation.
- Collaborate with the SENCO, parents, and external agencies to ensure that each student's needs are met effectively.
- Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and emotional well-being, providing regular feedback to the teaching team.
- Contribute to the overall positive ethos of the school and uphold its values and policies.
 
Required Skills and Qualifications:
 
- Previous experience working in a similar role within the SEN school sector, particularly with a focus on managing challenging behaviour and SEMH needs.
- A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies for supporting students with SEMH needs.
- Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- An understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
