Job Description
Flexible Tutoring Opportunities in Kirklees and Calderdale
Are you looking for a flexible role where you can make a real difference in the lives of children?
Do you have the skills to support students with SEN or SEMH needs, helping them overcome educational challenges?
Are you based in or around Kirklees?
The Education Network is collaborating to provide additional tutoring support to students for a variety of reasons. These students may have complex needs, require academic assistance, or simply seek extra support to achieve their educational goals.
We Are Seeking:
  • Experienced and proven tutors
  • Motivated PGCE and QTS teachers
Whether you prefer online, face-to-face, or a combination of both, we have opportunities for you to support students aged 4-17. Common subjects include core subjects (Maths, English, Science), ESOL, ESL, Humanities, Business, Economics, and Mentoring (you do not have to teach all these subjects).
Requirements:
Before starting, you must undergo a safeguarding/registration process, which includes:
  • Basic legal checks and registering for a DBS or hold a DBS currently on the update service
  • Free e-learning training modules
  • References and other essential checks

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement lesson plans based on students' preferred learning styles
  • Evaluate student development, identify areas for improvement, and document achievements using our internal reporting system
  • Ensure every session produces quantifiable results
  • Collaborate with educational stakeholders to ensure comprehensive student support
  • Operate in compliance with KCSIE and safeguarding principles. 
Desired Experience:
  • Teaching or tutoring one-to-one or small groups (essential)
  • Accepting supervision and correction constructively
  • Working in inclusion units, special settings, or alternative provisions (desirable but not essential)
  • Working with students with SEN, undiagnosed SEN, disengaged young people, or looked-after children (desirable but not essential)
Essential Qualities:
  • Inspirational, effective, and flexible communication skills
  • Competent IT skills with access to a laptop/computer, audio, and visual equipment
  • Stable broadband and internet connection for online tuition
  • Ability to develop meaningful relationships, encourage, and motivate students
