What you’ll do:
Provide targeted support in Year 4. Run short boosters for reading comprehension, vocabulary, and spelling. Lead quick-fire arithmetic, times-tables recall, and problem-solving practice. Offer 1:1 catch-up, guide small groups, and pre-teach key content before new units start. Set up resources, keep sharp notes on progress, and agree next steps with the class teacher each week.

A clear communicator who stays organised and keeps sessions purposeful. You break tricky ideas into simple steps, build rapport quickly, and follow guidance while using initiative.
 
Requirements

• Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
• Communication – Strong verbal and written communication.
• Enhanced DBS – Held already or willingness to obtain.
• Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine commitment to KS2 progress and inclusion.
• Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.

This ‘Good’ Wolverhampton primary is two-form entry with a diverse intake and clear routines that keep classrooms calm. Core skills are a whole-school priority: robust phonics lower down, guided reading across KS2, and a consistent maths approach using concrete–pictorial–abstract steps. Year teams plan together and share model texts, worked examples, and retrieval activities, so you’re never starting from scratch. The school runs weekly coaching drop-ins, data-light progress checks, and practical CPD you can put to work the same day.
