  • Key Duties: Teach Design Technology with a focus on Resistant Materials at Key Stage 3 and 4, foster creativity, and develop practical skills
 
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an ECT to join a creative and forward-thinking Design Technology department. You will be responsible for teaching Design Technology with a specialism in Resistant Materials at Key Stage 3 and 4. The department is well-equipped with industry-standard tools and resources to support students in developing their skills in design, construction, and problem-solving. You will be expected to lead your own classes and inspire students to engage with hands-on learning in a supportive and creative environment.
 
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will:
  • Hold a degree in Design Technology (specialising in Resistant Materials) and QTS (or be on track to achieve it by September 2025)
  • Have a solid understanding of the Design Technology curriculum at Key Stage 3 and 4, particularly in Resistant Materials
  • Be passionate about using creative approaches to teaching and developing students’ practical skills
  • Have strong classroom management skills and be able to engage students of varying abilities

  • Assigned mentor: A dedicated and experienced teacher providing regular feedback, guidance, and one-on-one support
  • Observation and feedback sessions: Structured classroom observations with detailed feedback from senior staff
  • Personalised development plan: Targeted support based on your strengths and areas for growth
  • Professional development opportunities: Workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance your teaching skills
  • Workload management strategies: Guidance on lesson planning, marking, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance
 
This induction programme is designed to equip you with the skills, confidence, and support needed to thrive as an Early Career Teacher.
